Hello and happy Easter to those of you who care about such things. My holiday has officially begun today; on Monday I go to London and I have no work over the weekend. I am super, super excited right now. I just really need a break away from normality and to experience London once more. Though if it'll sate my wanderlust I can't say.
As I said in my last entry I've been watching loads and loads of TV lately; mainly catching up on Mad Men and Lost. I finished all seasons of Mad Men and I cannot wait for more episodes. And last night I finished season 2 of Lost, the season that has cracked me twice before. I sort of decided not to let it get the best of me this time, because from the picspams I see on Tumblr, the later seasons look amazing. So yeah, I'm excited to start season 3 tonight.
And The Pacific, my god, The Paficic. Watch it, watch it, watch it, it is beautiful.
University has of course been super busy, but this semester we have no mid-terms so less so than it was last semester. I'm just taking it one day at a time, though I have to admit I can't wait for the semester to end (...in May lol, we have the longest holiday ever).

Literary meme taken from sommertiara

1) What author do you own the most books by?
I'm not going to count but it's either Margit Söderholm or Laura Ingalls Wilder.

2) What book do you own the most copies of?

My father's poetry books. I have over 100 copies of each, I think.

3) Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions?

No. Prepositions are one of my favourite things, because when you do a sentence analysis they are always the easiest to recognise.

4) What fictional character are you secretly in love with?

Eh, god. If I have to fall in love with non-real people I prefer to fall in love with people from tv.

4a) What fictional character would you most like to be?
Someone in Harry Potter or Eugénie from Margit Söderholm's Hellesta-series.

4b) What fictional character do you think most resembles you?

You tell me.

5) What book have you read the most times in your life?

As a child I would have my mother read me The Brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren for three years in a row. When I could read myself probably The Little House On the Prairie-series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Second must be Harry Potter, and third the Hellesta-series.

6) What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?

The Little House On The Prairie-series.

7) What is the worst book you've read in the past year?
Probably something for Uni.

8) What is the best book you've read in the past year?
As awful as it sounds, I don't remember what I read in the past year.

9) If you could force everyone you tagged to read one book, what would it be?
The Hellesta-series by Margit Söderholm lol. But not everyone appreciates historical fiction.

10) Who deserves to win the next Nobel Prize for literature?
Astrid Lindgren.

11) What book would you most like to see made into a movie?

To be honest I have a really time with my favourite books being adapted for the cinema.

12) What book would you least like to see made into a movie?

The Kingdom of Blood and Thorne by Greg Keyes.

13) Describe your weirdest dream involving a writer, book, or literary character.

14) What is the most lowbrow book you've read as an adult?
Probably ~The Beloved~ by Posie Graeme-Evans

15) What is the most difficult book you've ever read?

Wuthering Heights. I never finished it.

16) What is the most obscure Shakespeare play you've seen?
I've only seen Hamlet, Macbeth and Taming of the Shrew on film.

17) Do you prefer the French or the Russians?
The French, probably. The Russians seem too heavy for my tastes, though I do have some Dostoievsky (I don't know how to spell that lol) in my bookshelf.

18) Roth or Updike?

19) David Sedaris or Dave Eggers?

20) Shakespeare, Milton, or Chaucer?
Milton 4 lyfe.

I've never read anything by Eliot, but she seems more depressing than Austen so Austen.

I haven't read enough of the classics.

23) What is your favorite novel?
Currently I am loving Our Mutual Friend, but favourite? I couldn't say.

24) Play?
The only plays I am familiar with are Shakespeare plays and I feel like that's a bit unfair towards all other plays in the world.

25) Poem?
My dad wrote me one which is very pretty. That aside probably Sonnet 17 by Pablo Neruda or the Sylvia Plath one I put in the header.

26) Essay?
Neil Gaiman writes some extraordinary ones, but I can't remember any titles right now.

27) Short story?
Anyone from Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman.

28) Work of non-fiction?
I hardly ever read non-fiction.

29) Who is your favorite writer?

30) Who is the most overrated writer alive today?
There are so many I hate based on their names alone (I work at a library, remember), but I haven't actually read them so I feel a bit rude naming them here.

Milton's Collected Works because you know you would be able to read and re-read it and not grow bored.

mushaboom in the dark: Doctor Who - TARDIStsuu on March 27th, 2010 11:08 am (UTC)

My, that was a lot of reading! And a lot of writing for you to ofcourse. I love the literary meme, might snag that for future use. It was fun reading you liked Margit Söderholm, I only know her name from my mother's bookcase, I've never read her or anything and there her name pops up on LJ. Maybe it's a message that I should try one of her books.

Haha, yeah sorry about that. I was procrastinating because I didn't want to clean :3

And yes, you must, if you like historical fiction! I know it's not everybody's cup of tea but I think her writing is gorgeous and her characters so well described. I've actually only read the Hellesta-series (which is about 7 novels) but I hear her other writing is equally good.

The cinematography for The Pacific is stunning.

It is! And I love the way the stories tie into each other. I don't even know, I guess I'm a sucker for war films now?

"As a child I would have my mother read me The Brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren for three years in a row."
"32. Do you eat breakfast daily?
Yes, I can't function without it."
Ikke jeg heller.

Hva skal du i London!? Jeg VIIIIIL også dit!
mushaboom in the dark: Beauty and the Beast - Teacupstsuu on March 27th, 2010 02:08 pm (UTC)

sommertiara: korsettsommertiara on March 29th, 2010 09:00 am (UTC)
